2021-2022 Finalist Disclosures | WRI Ross Center Prize for Cities

According to the Terms and Conditions, the WRI Ross Center Prize for Cities is eligible to be won by projects that do not have a pre-existing relationship with WRI. 

The 15-Minute City

There is no prior existing relationship between WRI and The 15-Minute City.

Participatory Housing and Urban Development in Iloilo City

There is no prior existing relationship between WRI and Participatory Housing and Urban Development in Iloilo City. Sheela Patel, one of the members of the Prize for Cities jury, was the Board President of Slum Dwellers International (SDI) when the project was being implemented. SDI was involved in the selection of potential country partners whose housing projects were to be funded by a grant from the Community-Led Infrastructure Finance Facility (CLIFF).

Todos al Parque

There is no prior existing relationship between WRI and Todos Al Parque. “Barranquilla Verde,” a public entity with its own legal status and independent budget, received support by IISD (International Institute for Sustainable Development) through Cities4Forests (a coalition of cities convened by WRI) for a nature-based infrastructure assessment in the Mallorquín Lagoon outside of the city, which is not connected to the city’s parks initiative. “Transmetro,” a joint stock company between national ministries, Metro Area, District, and Mayor’s Office who is running the city’s mass passenger transportation system signed a “Letter of Intent” in August of 2021 to confirm its commitment to the TUMI initiative (C40, WRI, ICCT, ITDP, ICLEI, UITP). Through TUMI, WRI Colombia, provides support to Transmetro on fleet electrification.

Urban Wage Employment Initiative – MUKTA

There is no prior existing relationship between WRI and the Urban Wage Employment Initiative – MUKTA.

ZU Peshawar

There is no prior existing relationship between WRI and ZU Peshawar.
